Vertigo - a Guide

Other causes of vertigo

Home

Many conditions can cause vertigo and some of them will not be addressed in this web-site at present. These conditions include:

  • Head or neck trauma
  • Vertebro-basilar insufficency (circulatory disorder of the vertebral arteries)
  • Auto-immune disease
  • Benign tumor of the balance nerve (acoustic neuroma)
  • Migraine
  • Cervical (neck) spine disorders
  • Neurological disorders
  • Motion sickness

In addition many patients (especially the elderly) present with dizziness or light headedness rather than vertigo, and these symptoms are primarily related to vascular (circulatory) disorders.

Diagnosis is complex and at times difficult and may require detailed evaluation.
